Now that your SPM results are out, it is time to decide what to study and which university to join. EduSpiral Consultant Services is a representative of over 20 private universities and colleges in Malaysia including MDIS Singapore and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Therefore, the information provided here is related only to private higher education, those interested in STPM, Matriculation and the public universities should contact the relevant government agencies.
If you failed your BM, it is very important that you immediately contact the nearest Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia or go to their website http://www.moe.gov.my/lp/ or the Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia http://www.mpm.edu.my/ to register. To resit the subjects, the deadlines are the same. Note that the deadline to register is about 2 weeks after the SPM results are released so you must do it quickly. Please do not call us for advise as we only provide the information for re-sit and not where and how.
Fail in BM
With a fail in BM, most private universities and colleges will not let you enter into their Diploma or Foundation courses however you may contact me for some options.
SPM 1 Credit
With 1 credit and a pass in BM for your SPM, you can take a Certificate course for 1 year 4 months. After that, you can enter the relevant Diploma course for 2 years or 2.5 years depending on the college or course. After you finish the Diploma, you can enter Year 2 of the relevant degree for another 2 years.
Without the 3 Credits in SPM, you will not be able to apply for the PTPN Loan for the Certificate course, Diploma or Degree. If you do not have any credits in SPM, you can consider the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia.
SPM 3 Credits
If you obtained 3 credits in your SPM and a pass in BM, you can enter into most Diploma courses for 2 years or 2.5 years. After you finish, you can enter into Year 2 of the relevant degree for another 2 years.
SPM 5 Credits
With 5 credits in your SPM and a pass in BM, you can join a Foundation, Pre-University course or A-Levels. If you are

Jo Binn and Qi Leem from Samtet High School, now studying at APU
interested in Law, Medicine or Pharmacy, you should go for the A-Levels.
What to study?
It is normal to be confused about what to study after your SPM. Normally I advise students who are sure of what they want to study, to go for the Diploma course as they are able to apply for the PTPN Loan and will also study subjects that they like. If you are not sure of what to study, you can go for the Foundation or Pre-University course for one year and then take that time to discover what degree courses would interest you.
Scholarships
There are scholarships that you can apply for without interview such as from Asia Pacific University, HELP University, HELP College of Arts and Technology, KBU International College, KDU University College, KDU College Penang and UCSI University.
Attractive scholarships are from Asia Pacific University (APU) where the scholarship is applicable from Foundation all the way to degree but you must maintain a certain CGPA level. KBU International College offers up to 80% scholarship for students with 9As regardless of A, A+ or A-.

Can i ask about STPM? i don’t know what to study…. i really confused
Personally, I think STPM is tough and very difficult to score. You will need to do well in all 3 exams to make sure you get an A. Just go for Foundation or AUSMAT. What did you get for your SPM results? You may email me at lonniesik@eduspiral.com.my with your full name and handphone number for more details.
