PolyU aims to nurture their students to become effective communicators, both biliterate and trilingual (English and Chinese, including Putonghua). In addition to the English and Chinese language subjects in the core curriculum, extensive reading and writing components with adequate support from the teaching team are introduced to the general education programme and the discipline-specific curriculum.

component (300 hours) to gain real-life experience in the actual workplace before graduation. This will enable PolyU students to deepen their understanding of industries and professions, to apply classroom learning to deal with real-life problems, and to develop their workplace skills.

For the Spring Internship Programme, students are released from day-time study and they are required to study only two subjects in weekday evenings or on Saturdays during the internship period. The other option is the Summer Internship Programme where students work full time from June to August (Summer holidays).

The provision of compensation and/or benefits is at the discretion of employers. PolyU encourages the employers to provide students an allowance for meals and transport.

3. Enrich Students’ Experience with Industries and the Professions
With PolyU’s strong and long-standing relationship with industries and the professions, they

This relationship has also further stepped up collaboration between the University and industries in research, high-level consultancy projects and knowledge transfer activities which in turn support the application orientation of their academic programmes.

4. Capstone Project
Included in all programmes is a capstone project or thesis to enable students to
