Worldwide University Rankings Experts Released the QS University Rankings: ASIA 2013
Now in its fifth edition, QS University Rankings: Asia provides an essential overview of higher education in one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly developing regions. Covering the top 300 institutions in Asia, the rankings are based on nine indicators.
The QS University Rankings for Asia 2013 has just been released and coming out on top is the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology while our neighbour’s National University of Singapore (NUS) comes in at 2nd placing. Singapore’s flagship university comes top in the employer reputation survey and second in the academic reputation survey. Its strongest rating from academics is in the field of social sciences and management. NUS also has the second highest score for research citations, behind Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
National Technological University (NTU) remains at 10th placing. This is an impressive
climb for Singapore’s second ranked university, which was 17th last year. Like HKUST, NTU is just 22 years old. Having climbed to 47th in the last QS World University Rankings, it comes second in this year’s Top 50 Under 50. It comes 6th in the employer reputation survey, 13th in the academic reputation survey, and is the region’s number one in the indicator for international diversity of staff.

The first Malaysian university to enter the QS University Rankings: Asia 2013 is Universiti Malaya (UM) at 33rd with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at 57 and next at 61st placing is Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is 68th while Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is at 72nd.
