‘Design Matters’, this year’s celebration was aimed at promoting the role of design as a medium for positive change.

“In line with the theme, KBU International College organised talks that highlighted the merits of the interiors profession and its impact on the society,” said School of Design Deputy Head Chua Huwi Huwi.

She added: “World Interior Day is an annual event spearheaded by International Federation of Interior Architects /Designers. This is the fourth year that we are participating in the celebration and this time around, we have organised informative talks that explored the role of interiors in society, culture and our future built.”

As part of the celebration, students were exposed to the importance of staying connected to the society as a designer by Pn Anura Hashim, Council Member and Special Project Director of Malaysia Institute of Interior Designers (MIID).

“On top of that, students were also exposed on the prospective careers as an interior designer by Ar Vincent Lee, Founding Member of MiiD and Managing Director of Weaver Finch Sdn Bhd and a talk titled “Seeing into Virtual Reality” by consultants of RedStack Sdn Bhd,” said Chua.

“Our students had a great time experiencing the VR technology that links to Autodesk software. This enables clients to walk

through an interior design proposal and design specification that is updated in real time. This could be the future design presentation,” added Chua.
