Its vice-chancellor and president Prof Michael Driscoll expressed his elation over this achievement for a young university.

In total, Sowter said there were seven Malaysian universities in latest global employability rankings with five new entrants this year.

Universiti Malaya leads the listing for Malaysia, which has risen from the 201-250 category to 161-170.

This is followed by Taylor’s University, the International Islamic University Malaysia, UCSI University, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Mara.

On the Malaysian universities, Sowter said they could classify themselves among the world’s top 500 for engaging with employers, nurturing hireable graduates and fostering industry leaders.

UCSI University vice-chancellor and president Senior Prof Datuk Dr Khalid Yusoff said that UCSI always took graduate employability seriously.

“UCSI embraces Industry 4.0 and partners with more than 4,200 companies to equip students with skills and mindsets for employability and entrepreneurship.

“In the past year, for instance, three of our alumni have been inducted into the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 for social entrepreneurship,” he said.

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings compiled by the company that also produces the annual QS World University Rankings, offers students, parents and policymakers the comparative data on 500 universities, according to their ability to provide their students with a successful career.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States tops the rankings this year.
