Students from the School of Technology (SoT) at Asia Pacific University, comprising Muhammad Alkautsar Sanusi, Abdulhamid Ahmed Ali, Gamma Rizkinata Satriana and Syahmi bin Suleiman, has been chosen as one of the 3 worldwide finalists of the Atos IT Challenge 2016, themed ‘The Right to be Forgotten – Managing Your Online Persona’. This is a highly notable achievement; as they stood out among all teams from 52 universities in 19 countries, to be the only Malaysian team and only Asian team to secure a place in the global finals!

team in Malaysia and Asia. They actively participated in brainstorming sessions, technical debates, industrial meetings, preparations and presentation sessions, under the guidance of their academic mentors, Hemalata Vasudavan and Prof. Dr. Ir. Vinesh Thiruchelvam, as well as their industrial mentor from Atos Malaysia Scientific Community, Mr. Tan Chee Wooi. Their mobile application, ‘Go n Gone’, impressed the ATOS experts from their Mobile Competence Centre, due to the excellent presentation skills, creativity and technical skills demonstrated by the team.

Coming up next, the team will now head on to the global finals and the awards ceremony in Paris, France on the 14th of June, in which they will battle Loughborough University, UK and ENSEIRB-MATMECA University, France for the championship. They will be up and running for attractive cash prizes –  €10,000 (1st), €5,000 (2nd) and €3,000 (3rd), which will be awarded to them at the prize giving ceremony that night.  The team had gained full support by Atos, in which Atos’s top executives will be helping the team to make the mobile application available to the market.

Having won hundreds of awards in computing and IT in Malaysia and globally, Asia Pacific University is the best university in Malaysia to study IT or information technology.
