Being a multimedia expert does not automatically reflect an individual’s specialisation in one particular area, but instead expertise can be described as a tool related or process related to multimedia products and services. People who are great at programming in macromedia Lingo or HTML, or who are experts with Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Director, can easily be hired and staffed on oncoming projects.

  • Creative Directors – Secure the quality of every presentation of a media product on every project. They are engaged with how the company is reflected and represented in all products and media materials.
  • Creative Director for Video – Responsible for the digital video shooting, editing, and special effects and research and development of emergence of new digital video technology.
  • Art Director – Responsible for all the artwork created for a project. Art director analyses the creation of artwork at every phase and helps guide the media professionals on the project to follow certain design standards.
  • Interface Designer – Is one of the most recent careers in multimedia. An interface designer is responsible for the entire interface of a product.
  • Game Designer – Is a distinctive form of interface designer. A game designer designs interactive games. These games can either be developed for cartridges, CD-ROMs, or online worlds.
  • Scriptwriter – Is part traditional writer and part interactive designer. The distinction between traditional writing and interactive writing lies in the incorporation of various forms of interactivity within a work.
  • Editor/ Moderator – Filters information or regulates discussions. In interactive media, most people in these roles work basically in online environment.
  • Content Expert – Has the authority to furnish some standard of authenticity or accuracy to the information in an interactive project. A content expert’s position can range from strictly advisory to direct commitment.
  • Visual Designer – Is skilled in one of the areas of graphic design, calligraphy, illustration, and photography, as well as image scanning and manipulation. This is because the area of visual design is a mixture of many different visual areas. They produce suitable visual materials for a multimedia product.

They are especially well-known in the game industry.
  • Sound Engineer/ Sound Editor – Manages the sound equipment before, and after recording sessions. They set up equipment, perform sound checks, record music and/ or voice parts, and then mix them together. A sound editor edits sound files for tone, length and effects to be converted into the format needed.
  • Lead Programmer – Is one of the foundation of the project. The primary duties are to help craft and achieve the technology strategy for business. A lead programmer helps define the composition and actions of a product and recommends on the technical concern of certain decisions. Lead programmer needs to know both management standard and technology.
  • Programmers – Create the supporting software that runs a multimedia programme and responds to the user’s action. The different positions in programming are lead or senior programmer, programmer and junior programmer. Another form of programmer is a scripter. A programmer can also be a system administrator.
  • Interactive Programmer – Write interactive programming codes linking all multimedia contents, including special customised effects.

Internet

  • Web Master – Overall planning, execution and monitoring of the whole Web design including cost planning and budgeting of the Web production.
  • Web Producer – Implementation and monitoring of Web design including scheduling management and coordination.
  • Web Designer – Responsible for the design of the layout of the Web Page, making sure that the hypertext is easy to
