The students had gained acceptance into some of the world’s top universities. Among them was Ho Shou Hou, who was awarded a Chancellor Scholarship by the University of British-Columbia in Canada, where he is currently pursuing Computer Science.

Among others, Ho had scored 4A’s in the 2012 GCE A-Level examinations and 113 out of 120 in the TOEFL examination. Ho credits his success to the study methods and guidance of his lecturers during his pre-university days. Another top student, Scott Ooi Chiu Phu, attained full scholarship in Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia two years ago. His peer, Ahmad Fikri Anwar Fadzil also secured full scholarship at the same university.

Ooi, who scored 4A’s and 1A in the GCE A-Level November 2010 examination, also attributes his success to his lecturers—for their pastoral care and support.

“I am very thankful for the hard work that my lecturers had put in to prepare us

Brandon Teh Yuen Lin and Vanessa Mae Ren Chong, who were top scorers in the GCE A-Level in 2008, also received full scholarships from their respective universities in the US and UK.

Teh’s tertiary education tuition fees are fully paid by the University of Kansas where he is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering.

Mae, a JPA scholar, successfully graduated from the prestigious King’s College recently with a Bachelor of Science.

Both believe their success was due to the holistic education they had received at KDU College Penang.

The college’s Centre of Pre-University Studies head of department, Yeoh Ewe Aun attributes the centre’s growing success to its team of experienced and dedicated lecturers and a holistic education philosophy that focuses on a students’ character development.

Supportive parents and hardworking students are also factors that have helped the college achieve excellent results for the past 22 years, Yeoh said.

“To see our students soaring high above the crowd in the academia world is a motivational spark for our lecturers to continue developing new effective teaching methodologies which cater to today’s new examination formats. We hope the students will look at their limitations as new opportunities. We are proud of their achievements and wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” Yeoh said.
