What are the Entry Requirements for the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at HELP University?

Applicants must have one of the following Entry requirements:

  • HELP Foundation in Arts/Science – Pass all subjects (minimum of 4 Credits)
  • A-Levels – 1 C, 1 D
  • STPM – 2 Cs
  • UEC – 5 Bs
  • South Australian Matriculation – ATAR 65
  • Canadian Pre-U – Average 65 (6 subjects)
  • Foundation Programmes – Pass all subjects (minimum 50% Credits)
  • Diploma Programmes – Pass all subjects (minimum 30% Credits)

Local Programs have to be MQA-approved. The standard entry requirement of 3 SPM/O-Level Credits (including credits in 1 Math subject & 1 Science subject) still applies to all students. Malaysian students also have to attain a Pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu. Credit is equivalent to 60 out of 100 marks.

English requirements

Applicants must have one of the following English requirements:

  • IELTS – 5.5
  • TOEFL – 550 paper-based (213 computer-based; 80 Internet-based)
  • MUET – Band 5
  • SPM – B for English “(not including SPM 1119)”
  • UEC – B for English
  • HELP Foundation in Arts/Science – Credit for either Intermediate English or Advanced English
  • South Australian Matriculation – 14/20 for English as a Second Language
  • Canadian Pre-U – 65 for ENG4U

Please note that the University standard entry requirement for degree is MUET Band 3, but the Department of Psychology requires MUET Band 5.

What is the Education Pathway into HELP University’s Psychology Degree after SPM or IGCSE/O-Levels?

Students after SPM or IGCSE/O-Levels will need to obtain at least 5 credits including English and 1 Science subject to enter into either the Foundation in Arts or Foundation in Science at HELP University. Upon completion of the 1-year Foundation programme, students may progress on to Year 1 of the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at HELP University. Students will need to pass the Foundation programme with a minimum of 4 credits.

Alternatively, students may go for the A-Levels, STPM, AUSMAT, Canadian Pre-U or other external Pre-University programme and achieve the relevant results to enter the degree programme.

The Psychology Research Colloquium at HELP University

This is an in-house research conference held twice a year in April and November giving HELP Psychology students the opportunity to present their research to their peers and faculty staff. With a team of Clinical Psychologists and Counsellors, HELP offers students free counselling and consulting services to ensure a high level of mental health. Career counselling and personal development services are also available to all HELP students.

Student Tutorships

Dr Goh Chee Leong, Vice-President and Dean at HELP University. BA (Hons) Psychology (Otago), PhD (Otago). Dr Goh is

the President Elect of ARUPS (ASEAN Regional Union of Psychological Societies) and the President of PSIMA (Malaysian Psychological Association). He is a consultant for many organizations including UNICEF, Maxis, Petronas, DiGi and CIMB. His interests include work psychology, stress and children’s rights.

She was a senior tutor as well as the former president of the HELP Psychology Student Council. She was selected to join GE’s Graduate Leadership Program while studying in HELP. She is currently an HR advisor in Shell Malaysia.
