EY Young Tax Professional of the Year (YTPY) 2013 Malaysia!

An Accounting major at the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, Joel will represent Malaysia at the YTPY international final to be held next month in Copenhagen, Denmark.

There he will compete against winners from over 25 countries for the title of “Young Tax Professional of the Year”. Joel was selected from over 185 participants in the Malaysia edition of the YTPY beating other finalists from Sunway University, MMU, Taylors University and UTAR.

In the Malaysian leg of the competition, Joel beat 188 participants and won RM8000 and an eight-week paid internship at Ernst & Young.

Joel’s analytical skill and strong business acumen wowed the judges in his  2000 word essay and compelling case study presentation. Joel will be competing against participants from 25 countries in a bid to win a 30-day round the world business trip.

The YTPY programme began in 2011 and is an initiative by Ernst & Young that seeks to recognise and invest in future tax talent.

EY’s Young Tax Professional of the Year is an international tax competition which allows students interested in tax to test and demonstrate their technical and professional tax skills.

Students from all over the world are encouraged to participate, ensuring involvement by students from various countries.

In 2013, the Asia Pacific region will be represented for the first time by Malaysia and Hong Kong.
