Furthermore, the course will equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to effectively teach English as a Second Language. The degree programme at private universities desires to produce eloquent professionals in English who are well-versed with issues in TESL. The programme is designed as a transformative program, which offers students, the education, training, and first-hand experience which are essential for successful international careers.
Students are exposed to effective current methods and technologies in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA), and to produce graduates with leadership skills and a committed sense of social responsibility. Education Pathway
Students after SPM or IGCSE/O-Levels may go for the Foundation in Arts at a top private university in Malaysia for 1 year before continuing on to the 3-year Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). Pre-University students with the relevant results in STPM, A-Levels, SAM, CPU, AUSMAT, etc. can enter directly into Year 1 of the degree programme.
Entry Requirements
- Matriculation/Foundation – minimum CGPA of 2.0 in relevant fields as recognized by the MOHE or or equivalent
- Diploma – minimum CGPA of 2.0 in relevant field or or equivalent
- A-Levels – Grade D in two subject or or equivalent
- UEC – minimum of 5 B’s.
- STPM – Grade C (GPA 2.0) in two subject or or equivalent

It depends from university to university. You have to submit your Foundation transcripts to the university of interest for evaluation for entry.

You will study Foundation for 1 year and then degree for 3 years. Yes, you can work as a lecturer after completing the TESL degree. You can transfer for your final year if you have the money. It will cost more than RM100,000 a year overseas. You can apply to work overseas but there is no guarantee they will hire you. It also depends on how good you are.
