Course Details for the UK Dual Award Computer and Network Technology Degree at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College

The Computer and Network Technology program at UOWM KDU Penang is a 3-year programme recognised and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
The Computer and Network Technology program offers state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories equipped with the latest industry standard technology including, networking labs that emulate the Internet using Cisco equipment, network sensor development environments that allow us to study ‘the Internet of Things’, as well as a dedicated, networked smart home environment.
Students will have experience with how to cable and configure routers and switches, as well as other systems such as phones, video cameras and wireless devices. Understand how the network is used in the modern IT industry by studying the way global systems – like Google, Amazon and Facebook – operate. Practical networking experience with sound knowledge of the software running on the servers, giving you the invaluable insight employers are looking for.
UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College is collaborating with IBM Malaysia and their educational delivery partner, Teknoturf, to set up the IBM Innovation Centre for Education (ICE) to offer a series of professional certification programs. For Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Network Technology students, the professional certification program offered under IBM ICE will be a Diploma in IoT (i.e. Internet of Things). Students will complete 4 IBM modules as part of their computing bachelor degree program to receive an additional professional award from the IBM Innovation Centre.
Education Pathway

Students after SPM or IGCSE O-Levels with at least 5 credits including Maths & Physics may enter into the Foundation in Science or Foundation in Arts for 1 year before continuing on to the 3-year Information Systems degree.
Alternatively, students with at least 3 credits in SPM or IGCSE O-Levels including Maths and 1 Science subject may enter the Diploma in Information Technology (IT) for 2.5 years and then upon completion enter into Year 2 of the Information Systems degree for another 2 years.
