Mechanical engineering is an academically challenging course. The course will last 4 years at universities in Malaysia in order to comply with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

The first and second years are usually similar across most mechanical engineering programmes. The course will likely cover an introduction to engineering with modules in applied mathematics, computing, thermodynamics and design and manufacturing.

After that, students will be able to specialise through selecting modules that interest them such as computational continuum mechanics, interfacing and data processing, fluid mechanics and many others.
