As part of your academic studies, you are given the opportunity to undertake at least one compulsory period of industry placement. Industry Placement is a period of employment in an establishment to enhance your skills and experience and provide opportunities for the application of theory to the world of work.

For internships in Malaysia, support is provided through the whole process of CV review and interview. As soon as a potential employer confirms interest an interview is organized. Students are given information about the workplace and briefed for the interview. SHTCA will try to provide you with a suitable place according to your selection criteria. However, the school does not guarantee a place of your choice for industry placement nor any particular position during your industry placement. In the event your selection criteria do not match up with the list, SHTCA reserve the right to place you in any alternative establishment.

For internships overseas, support is also given throughout, including CV review, links with reputable companies worldwide and interview advice. Our Industry Placement Manager gives advice and assists with the paperwork required to facilitate work permit applications. It must be noted that the internship allowance/salaries abroad vary according to the local market.

During your internship in Malaysia, SHTCA staff member will visit you to ensure that you are happy with the progress of your training and to help with any problems you may have encountered. For overseas internships, SHTCA will maintain regular contact with you and your employer to ensure that your experience lives up to your expectations. Unlike in most other hotel schools, at KDU University College, all these services are provided free of charge. You do not have to pay school fees during your internship.
