The course is comprised of taught modules and as part of your studies you will have the opportunity to choose from a range of optional modules in a range of years. This enables you to select topics that are of most interest to you.

Additionally, you will complete a year-long research project during your final year. The research project encourages and develops your critical thinking. You will conduct independent research – including a literature survey using the library with access to e-journals – and undertake data handling, analysis and interpretation. You will carry out your project under the supervision of a research-active member of academic staff, and benefit from the supportive environment we provide.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) has been granted Self-Accrediting Status by Ministry of Education (MOE) through the Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA). This privilege is awarded to mature institutions which have robust internal systems for quality assurance.

UNMC has been given the freedom and flexibility to approve and accredit our own degree courses without having to apply course by course basis for approval from MOE.

An internal quality audit (IQA) will be conducted for non-professional courses prior to the first cohort of graduating. The courses will be listed in Malaysia Qualifications Register (MQR)

Biotechnology Research Centre (BRC), a premier centre for research on applying biotechnological tools and advanced molecular techniques and breeding strategies

Centre of Excellence for Postharvest Biotechnology (CEPB), which focuses on reducing postharvest losses, developing novel technologies to extend shelf-life and enhance health promoting nutrients of fruits and vegetables and developing alternative technologies to synthetic fungicides to manage postharvest diseases.

We also work closely with the Crops for the Future Research Centre (CFFRC), a premier international centre for research and development of under utilised crops, the School in Malaysia plays a crucial role in addressing the challenges of global food security.

College Placement Test (US Style Curriculum)

Students taking group B subjects may be made an offer across more than three subjects at AP level.

SAT Subject Tests and AP papers must include 2 science subjects, preferably biology and chemistry; other science subjects such as mathematics or Physics C plus either Physics 1 or Physics 2 may be considered on a case-by-case basis
