Students interested in Architecture should be prepared for a long road ahead to achieve the status of obtaining the title “Ar.” as a professional architect. Architecture is a combination of creativity, history, sciences, and design.

You will learn how to conceptualise and design buildings in relation to the economic, technical, environmental and social needs.

Architecture strongly relates to built environment and urban planning disciplines such as civil and structural engineering, quantity surveying, and property economics and management.

If you are interested in creating things, buildings and spaces, technology, art and design, a career in architecture may be for you.

After SPM, students must possess a credit in Maths & any one Science subject in order to enter into the Foundation for one year.

Upon successful completion, they will then enter into the degree for another 3 years which is accredited by Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) equivalent to PAM 1.

The next step is to go into an accredited Masters equivalent to PAM 2 for another 2 years. Graduates will then work for 2 years and then sit for the PAM 3 exams and then to finally become an architect. The whole process after SPM will take you about 8 years.

  5. hi,

if compare to chemical engineering, people would say architecture salary will be much lower than engineering ones in begining. so do you agree with this ? and any idea on job satisfaction with architecture jobs nowadays because previously architecture job seen to be very high ?

    thanks.

    • You need to improve your English a bit more because it is difficult to understand what you are trying to ask. If you study architecture or engineering and graduate with such English skills, you will not be able to have a high salary because your boss and the clients would not understand your reports. There is no research done on job satisfaction for architects in Malaysia so I don’t know where you get the idea that job satisfaction was high for architects previously. Salaries are high for both chemical engineering and architects if you possess the skills, knowledge, leadership and communication skills.
