The MQA Rating System for Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia for 2011 (SETARA ’11) is the third rating exercise undertaken at the institutional level for universities and university colleges in Malaysia after the SETARA ’09 (using 2009 data) and SETARA 2007 (using 2006 data). The SETARA ’11 rating exercise was carried out between March 2011 and July 2012. Data collected and used for the rating was based on the year of 2011.

Similar to the SETARA ’09, the SETARA ’11 measures the performance of teaching and learning at level six of the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (undergraduate level) using the same domains, while SETARA 2007 measures the overall quality.

Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who announced the Setara results, said no institution managed to get the highest classification of Tier Six or “outstanding” status.

“The overall performance of the 52 universities and university colleges involved in Setara 2011 was satisfactory,” he told reporters after attending the Malaysian Qualifications Agency’s fifth anniversary celebrations.

He said no university or university college was categorised under Tier Two (satisfactory) and Tier One (weak).

Started in 2007, Setara rates universities and university colleges based on the quality of their teaching and learning for undergraduate study.

  1. How good would you say the HELP Uni is in terms of visibility and recognition in the Asia-Pacific region, if one were to pursue a MBA at HELP? Would greatly appreciate your input.

  2. Look, if I got an interior design Diploma, can I use it to study other subjects?

    • After graduating with a Diploma in Interior design, you can go for your degree in Interior Design. To change to other courses, you will not get many exemptions, you may have to start all over or do one more extra year. It’s better to just continue on in the same field.
