Banking is a traditional career area for graduates, as is the wider financial services sector. Although many graduate entrants have a financial background there are also openings for those with degrees in other subjects: you can expect good training on a graduate programme and there may be a chance to extend your knowledge through professional exams.

The banking and finance industry plays a crucial role in promoting and sustaining the economic growth of a country. It safeguards the interests of its customers, sells its services and encourages investments. Different types of banks offer different kinds of services to different groups of customers.

  • The banking and finance industry comprises:
  • Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank)
  • commercial banks
  • finance companies
  • money and stockbroking firms
  • futures trading firms

Commercial banks provide financial advice to the public, businesses and industries, as well as the local government.

Merchant banks provide services to firms and corporations. They offer banking services and advice on takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and international trading.

Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank) does not provide banking services to the public. It functions as a

central bank and acts as an intermediary for the government and other banks. It supervises other banks and foreign exchange, looks after the government’s interests, prints and withdraws money in circulation. It also provides advice to the Ministry of Finance and other government agencies.

Banking is mainly divided into corporate banking, which provides banking services to large organisations; retail banking, which provides services to individual and smaller businesses; and investment banking. Financial services covers areas such as pensions, insurance and risk management.
Management training schemes in retail banks (the smaller, high street branches of large commercial banks) give you a chance to manage your own branch within a few years. But there are also roles for graduates with specialist skills, such as IT, as well as graduate jobs in other support functions, such as marketing and HR.
Other specialist areas, which you can train for on the job, include risk management, compliance and, particularly in the insurance sector, actuarial work.
Within this sector you can also find work with insurance companies, consultancies, specialist finance firms and businesses that built their reputation in a different sector before diversifying into offering financial services products.
Most careers in this sector will suit graduates with a feel for business, but there are many different paths: a job in a retail bank or building society would suit those with good people skills, while actuarial work needs graduates who are strong on numeracy.

One of those opportunities is the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), widely seen as Malaysia’s vehicle of growth.

The ETP is a comprehensive government initiative that aims to turn Malaysia into a high-income economy by 2020, with the goal of doubling Malaysia’s per-capita gross national income (GNI) from US$6,700 (RM23,700) in 2009 to more than US$15,000 (RM48,000) in 2020.

The ETP’s potential implications for retail banking especially are profound. As Malaysia is still largely a consumer-driven economy, it is predicted that the opportunity for growth in the retail industry is significant. Another area where the ETP will have a positive impact is investment banking.

The ETP also projects a total investment of RM1.2tril. A targeted average of RM115bil per year is expected from the private sector between 2011 and 2015.

As of July 2011, RM170bil worth of projects has been announced in Entry Point Projects, one of which is the proposed Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit programme.

The need for private sector capital will be enhanced by the courting of investment from a wider range of countries that reduces Malaysia’s exposure to the fallout in the US and Europe. China, India and the Middle East now rank as major additions to the country’s portfolio.

The response towards the ETP has been positive, and is borne out by the figures. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first quarter of 2011 was already RM11bil, compared to RM 29.3bil for the whole of 2010.

Banking & Financial Services Job Market Insights and Salary in Malaysia Q2 2017 Report by Ambition.com.my

by Bong Siew Yong

Throughout the first quarter of 2017, talent demand for Banking & Financial Services continued to see an increasing trend.

Banks active on migration of functions

EduSpiral helped me to find the right college for A-Levels, & now they have helped me to choose what to study after my A-Levels.
Chee Kin, Actuarial & Finance degree at UCSI University

In Q1 2017, we continued to see the trend of global banks migrating and building functions in Kuala Lumpur. This phenomenon has been creating and developing exciting career opportunities for professionals in Banking & Financial Services. However, as most of these functions are still considered new to Malaysia, we saw a short supply of local talents in meeting this demand. Banks continued to be focused on attracting expat expertise who could build and develop talented, sustainable teams with the pool of local and returning Malaysian professionals.

Core growth areas continued to be across Investment Banking, Wealth, Risk and AML / Compliance operations, as organisations looked to keep up with global regulatory standards. We saw an accompanying talent demand for Banking & Financial Services professionals who could support growth in these areas.

We also observed a trend, albeit very much expected, of the fundamental need for strong Business Change teams, Process Engineers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers. This trend has been evolving with the continued migration of regional and global processes to Malaysia, particularly to the country’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.

Attitude matters where talent is scarce

Given the ongoing maturity of Kuala Lumpur as a regional and global hub, with its melting pot of talent comprising a broad range of technical skills and knowledge, we have been seeing businesses unanimously seeking for professionals with global exposure, thought leadership, stakeholder management and excellent communication skills. The search for such talent continued to pose challenges in meeting emerging market needs for excellent regional and global teams in the country’s capital. Consequently, we saw a trend where organisations were hiring on attitude and through upskilling of technical knowledge within the available talent pool.

Optimistic talent outlook for the months ahead

As we go through Q2 2017, we expect to see similar hiring trends for Banking & Financial Services that we saw in the first quarter, as this market continues to mature in Malaysia. Exceptional talent will be sought after towards building sustainable teams within banks and financial services firms.

Prospects for technology recruitment in 2017 are very positive as employers are driven by Malaysia’s blend of price point and quality in this sector, according to Ambition’s quarterly market insights report for Q4 2016.

The report also found that Malaysia’s banking and financial services market has continued to established itself as a mainstay global service centre hub, for middle and back office functions for some of the world’s largest organisations.

The report covers salary and job outlook data across four sectors:

  1. Technology
  2. Banking and financial services
  3. Finance and accounting
  4. Digital

Malaysia’s Technology Salary and Job Outlook 2017

Prospects are bright as employers are driven by Malaysia’s blend of price point and quality. There is an uptake in the creation of centres of excellence, resulting in increased demand for specialist talent further up the value chain.

Malaysia is currently less competitive on cost point alone compared to other typical offshore centres, such

as Chennai and Manila. However, if you factor in the quality, seniority and specialist nature of IT professional that can be hired here, Malaysia is now moving towards being a cost-effective alternative to Singapore and Hong Kong, a move away from the typical offshore BPO model.

Moving into Q1 2017, significant growth is expected across the following sectors:

  • Infrastructure services such as networks, platforms and specialist areas such as cloud and virtualisation;
  • Salaries of IT directors with more than 10 years of experience pegged at RM250k-360k per annum;
  • ERP, EAI and other specialist off-the-peg solutions from large vendors such as SAP, Oracle and Salesforce;
  • Solutions architect for application development can take home in the range of RM180k-250k per month.
  • Business transformation, an increasingly dominant area of IT, leading to demand for professionals in project management, program management, PMO and change management.

Technology salaries for 2017

Malaysia’s Banking and financial services salary and job outlook 2017

Drawing from lessons learnt in previous years, a number of banks are becoming more strategically aligned on locally available talent, and are continuing to grow largely across investment banking, wealth, risk and AML / compliance operations.

That said, 2016 saw smaller pockets of niche capital market and AML analysis or optimisation operational skillsets, with Kuala Lumpur attracting both expat talent and returning Malaysians given the instability and changes to many mainstay frontline markets.

The following is the sectoral outlook:

  • With a number of the global banks continuing to migrate functions to Kuala Lumpur, there is a need for business change teams, process engineers, business analysts, and project managers;
  • Regional finance controllers can earn in the range of RM220k-280k per annum this year;
  • As  a number of projects are being undertaken based in China / Hong Kong, there is an increased need for language fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese;
  • Head of tax roles are in demand with anticipated yearly salary at RM250k-300k;
  • There is a return in demand for audit, risk and compliance talent, particularly those focused on AML and FCC operations, as global markets have become more heavily regulated.

Banking and financial services salaries for 2017

Malaysia’s Finance and accounting salary and job outlook 2017

  • In the months ahead, shared services hubs are expected to focus on volume hiring, leading to an upward trajectory in demand for experienced accounting and risk professionals.
  • Experienced CFOs (15+ years) can pocket in the range of RM 360k-540k annually.
  • The market favours job seekers, with demand for change management as well as migration professionals, especially those with project management and Lean Six Sigma qualifications.
  • Demand is also high for audit heads, who can anticipate per annum salary of 250k-300k.
  • By centralising global or regional functions in a shared services hub, there is demand for those experienced in financial analysis, financial planning and analysis, taxation, and compliance.

Finance and accounting salaries in 2017

Malaysia’s Digital salary and job outlook 2017

  • With 675 million smartphones in service in Asia today, demand for iOS, Android and Full Stack mobile developers to be at a peak towards the end of 2017.
  • CIO/CTO titles are taking home RM360k-600k per annum, while engineering heads or vice president titles fall in a similar RM300k-600k range.
  • With investments in big data, mobilisation and content marketing on social media platforms, there is demand for influencer marketers, data scientists, and social media experts.
  • Despite Malaysia being an excellent talent base, some challenges are foreseen in terms of its local talent pool’s ability to meet digital expertise demand.

Digital salaries for 2017

Paul Endacott, regional MD of Asia at Ambition, commented on the necessity for businesses to go digital. “This is more so in Malaysia where there are emerging centres of excellence, resulting in increased demand for digital and technology services through investment and development whilst the country’s capital is seen as a logistically viable, cost-effective and business-friendly regional business hub.”

However, he pointed out that this will cause a talent shortage despite the increase in expatriates and returning Malaysians.

“Organisations are encouraged to hire based on trainable potential and transferable qualities such as problem-solving or general coding ability, failing which these organisations will likely face a standstill and a faltering process of knowledge transfer to fuel talent growth.”

What is Finance?

Banking & Finance professionals can earn very high salaries in Malaysia

Banking & Finance professionals can earn very high salaries in Malaysia

Finance is a dynamic and ever-changing field that involves the evaluation of alternative choice investments, the monitoring of performance and the management of funds.

It uses, analyses and interprets data from companies’ operations, business units and accountants to make critical decisions on the companies’ day-to-day activities, investments, financing and risk management.

Finance plays an important role in almost all areas of business management and involves corporate strategy, marketing management, the design of reward packages, control and operations management. Therefore, studying finance is a must to all business students at university level.

The field of finance is dynamic and constantly changing to suit the needs of individuals, firms, financial institutions and the government sector.

A course in finance can be divided into 3 areas which are:

  1. corporate finance
  2. investment
  3. financial derivatives

Corporate finance looks at how investment and financing decisions are made from the perspective of a corporate decision maker. The investment module is designed to develop an understanding of institutional structures, fundamental concepts of financial securities valuation in financial markets and the performance evaluation of fund managers. The derivative securities module is designed to develop an understanding of risk management conducted by portfolio managers.

What do Banking & Finance Professionals work as in Malaysia?

The banking and finance industry plays a crucial role in promoting and sustaining the economic growth of a country. It safeguards the interests of its customers, sells its services and encourages investments. Different types of banks offer different kinds of services to different groups of customers. The banking and finance industry comprises:

  • Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank)
  • commercial banks
  • finance companies
  • money and stockbroking firms
  • futures trading firms

Commercial banks provide financial advice to the public, businesses and industries, as well as the local government. Merchant banks provide services to firms and corporations. They offer banking services and advice on takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and international trading. Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank) does not provide banking services to the public. It functions as a central bank and acts as an intermediary for the government and other banks.

It supervises other banks and foreign exchange, looks after the government’s interests, prints and withdraws money in circulation. It also provides advice to the Ministry of Finance and other government agencies. Qualified people are required to fill up different posts in the various departments of a bank. The departments include:

  • Accounts – Keeps a full record of the bank’s transactions.
  • Loans – Policies and guidelines for loans are determined by the head-office, to be abided by branch offices.
  • Investments – Handles investment in bonds and government securities to ensure maximum returns. – International trade
  • Connects with overseas banks and assists Malaysian traders in establishing contacts with foreign counterparts.
  • Sales and Marketing – Sells the bank’s services to the public and organises publicity campaigns for the bank.
  • Personnel – Recruits new workers and takes care of promotions, transfers, pay and welfare of staff.
  • Training – Responsible for the training of new recruits.
  • Systems and Technology – Keeps up with the latest development in technology to help in the daily running of the banks.
  • Economy – Provides the latest information on local and global economic trends. Researches and compiles statistical information.

managers. They oversee the preparation of financial reports, direct investment activities, and implement cash management strategies as well as develop strategies and implement the financial goals of the institution.

The duties of financial managers vary with their specific titles, which include controller, treasurer or finance officer, credit manager, cash manager, risk and insurance manager, and manager of international banking.

Controllers direct the preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future earnings or expenses, that summarize and forecast the organization’s financial position.

Controllers also are in charge of preparing special reports required by regulatory authorities. Often, controllers oversee the accounting, audit, and budget departments. Treasurers and finance officers direct the organization’s budgets to meet its financial goals.

They oversee the investment of funds, manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm’s expansion, and deal with mergers and acquisitions.

Credit managers oversee the firm’s issuance of credit, establishing credit-rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, and

monitoring the collections of past-due accounts.

Cash managers monitor and control the flow of cash receipts and disbursements to meet the business and investment needs of the firm. For example, cash flow projections are needed to determine whether loans must be obtained to meet cash requirements or whether surplus cash should be invested in interest-bearing instruments.

Risk and insurance managers oversee programs to minimize risks and losses that might arise from financial transactions and business operations. They also manage the organization’s insurance budget. Managers specializing in international finance develop financial and accounting systems for the banking transactions of multinational organizations.

Financial institutions—such as commercial banks, savings and loan associations, and mortgage and finance companies—employ additional financial managers who oversee various functions, such as lending, trusts, mortgages, and investments, or programs, including sales, operations, or electronic financial services. These managers may solicit business, authorize loans, and direct the investment of funds, always adhering to Federal and State laws and regulations.

Branch managers of financial institutions administer and manage all of the functions of a branch office. Job duties may include hiring personnel, approving loans and lines of credit, establishing a rapport with the community to attract business, and assisting customers with account problems.

Branch mangers also are becoming more oriented toward sales and marketing. As a result, it is important that they have substantial knowledge about all types of products that the bank sells.

Financial managers who work for financial institutions must keep abreast of the rapidly growing array of financial services and

products. In addition to the preceding duties, all financial managers perform tasks unique to their organization or industry.

For example, government financial managers must be experts on the government appropriations and budgeting processes, whereas health care financial managers must be knowledgeable about issues surrounding health care financing. Moreover, financial managers must be aware of special tax laws and regulations that affect their industry.

Financial managers play an increasingly important role in mergers and consolidations and in global expansion and related financing. These areas require extensive, specialized knowledge to reduce risks and maximize profit. Financial managers increasingly are hired on a temporary basis to advise senior managers on these and other matters. In fact, some small firms contract out all their accounting and financial functions to companies that provide such services.

The role of the financial manager, particularly in business, is changing in response to technological advances that have significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to produce financial reports. Financial managers now perform more data analysis and use it to offer senior managers ideas on how to maximize profits.

They often work on teams, acting as business advisors to top management. Financial managers need to keep abreast of the latest computer technology to increase the efficiency of their firm’s financial operations.

Financial analysts and personal financial advisors provide analysis and guidance to businesses and individuals in making

investment decisions. Both types of specialists gather financial information, analyze it, and make recommendations. However, their job duties differ because of the type of investment information they provide and their relationships with investors.

Financial analysts assess the economic performance of companies and industries for firms and institutions with money to

invest. Also called securities analysts and investment analysts, they work for investment banks, insurance companies, mutual and pension funds, securities firms, the business media, and other businesses, helping them make investment decisions or recommendations.

Financial analysts read company financial statements and analyze commodity prices, sales, costs, expenses, and tax rates in order to determine a company’s value and to project its future earnings.

They often meet with company officials to gain a better insight into the firm’s prospects and to determine its managerial effectiveness.

Financial analysts can usually be divided into two basic types: those who work on the buy side and those who work on the sell side. Analysts on the buy side work for companies that have a great deal of money to invest.

These companies, called institutional investors, include mutual funds, hedge funds, insurance companies, independent money

managers, and charitable organizations, such as universities and hospitals, with large endowments.

Buy side financial analysts work to devise investment strategies for a company’s portfolio. Conversely, analysts on the sell side help securities dealers to sell their products. These companies include investment banks and securities firms. The business media also hire financial advisors that are supposed to be impartial, and as such occupy a role somewhere in the middle.

Financial analysts generally focus on a specific industry, region, or type of product. For example, an analyst may focus on the

utilities industry, Latin America, or the options market. Firms with larger research departments may divide the work even further so their analysts can maintain sharp focus.

Within their areas of specialty, analysts assess current trends in business practices, products, and competition. They must keep abreast of new regulations or policies that may affect the investments they are watching and monitor the economy to determine its effect on earnings.

Some experienced analysts called portfolio managers supervise a team of analysts and help guide a company in selecting the

right mix of products, industries, and regions for their investment portfolio. Others who manage mutual funds or hedge funds perform a similar role and are generally called fund managers. Other analysts, called risk managers, analyze portfolio decisions and determine how to maximize profits through diversification and hedging.

Some financial analysts, called ratings analysts, evaluate the ability of companies or governments that issue bonds to repay their debts. On the basis of their evaluation, a management team assigns a rating to a company’s or government’s bonds, which helps them to decide whether to include them in a portfolio. Other financial analysts perform budget, cost, and credit analysis as part of their responsibilities.

Financial analysts use spreadsheet and statistical software packages to analyze financial data, spot trends,

and develop forecasts. Analysts also use the data they find to measure the financial risks associated with making a particular investment decision. On the basis of their results, they write reports and make presentations, usually with recommendations to buy or sell particular investments.

Personal financial advisors assess the financial needs of individuals. Advisors use their knowledge of investments, tax laws, and insurance to recommend financial options to individuals. They help them to identify and plan to meet short- and long-term goals. Planners help clients with retirement and estate planning, funding the college education of children, and general investment choices.

Many also provide tax advice or sell life insurance. Although most planners offer advice on a wide range of topics, some specialize in areas such as retirement and estate planning or risk management. Personal financial advisors usually work with many clients, and they often must find their own customers. Many personal financial advisors spend a great deal of their time making sales calls and marketing their services.

Many advisors also meet potential clients by giving seminars or lectures or through business and social contacts. Finding clients and building a customer base is one of the most important aspects of becoming successful as a financial advisor. Financial advisors begin work with a client by setting up a consultation. This is usually an in-person meeting where the advisor obtains as much information as possible about the client’s finances and goals.

The advisor then develops a comprehensive financial plan that identifies problem areas, makes recommendations for improvement, and selects appropriate investments compatible with the client’s goals, attitude toward risk, and expectation or need for a return on the investment. Sometimes this plan is written, but more often it is in the form of verbal advice. Advisors sometimes meet with accountants or legal professionals for help.

Financial advisors usually meet with established clients at least once a year to update them on potential investments and adjust their financial plan to any life changes—such as marriage, disability, or retirement. Financial advisors also answer clients’ questions regarding changes in benefit plans or the consequences of a change in their jobs or careers.

Financial planners must educate their clients about risks and various possible scenarios so that the clients don’t harbor unrealistic expectations. Most personal financial advisors buy and sell financial products, such as securities and life insurance. Fees and commissions from the purchase and sale of securities and life insurance plans are one of the major sources of income for most personal financial advisors.

Entrepreneurship has become a crucial factor in the development and well-being of societies. It has been proven to increase innovation as well as promote productivity and healthy economic competition.

The School takes pride in grooming business graduates who can create social value through their business activities, looking beyond profit margins and emphasing on the value of contributing to the community. We cultivate purposeful business leaders who possess a different mindset and understanding of business.

We believe that purposeful leaders should have a holistic view of the company and see beyond the organisational divisions and hierarchy. Transformation can only take place when students are able to see the ‘big picture’ view of the organisation and business landscape as a whole.

As such, we provide many opportunities for students to be immersed in situations where they are challenged to see from an owner’s perspective and subsequently make decisions from an owner’s stand point. These experiences shape our graduates to see their role as part of the organisation and business community, as well as influence their desire to make a difference.

Fresh Mart – Students purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers from the farms of Cameron Highlands and sell them on campus. The profits are then donated back to the local farmers. Students are thus able to help the local farming community, and gain exposure to business enterprise through real business experiences.

Service learning is incorporated as a core initiative in our business education, through community-based projects to enhance our students’ sense of civic responsibility. These projects are designed to enable students to achieve specific learning outcomes while gaining a rich mastery of the business modules offered at the School.

The Programme for After Class Enrichment (PACE)
This programme, in collaboration with the Edge Education Foundation and EY (Ernst & Young), assists youth to perform better in their studies. TBS students contribute their individual efforts in order to make improvements in another person’s life, through academic support and mentoring in the form of tuition classes.

Do Something Good (DSG) and Social Enterprise Alliance Malaysia (SEA)
The strategic partnership between DSG and SEA creates a platform for TBS students to be actively involved in projects based on social entrepreneurship and volunteerism. Graduates are nurtured to become more compassionate citizens by understanding the essentials of social service learning.

REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

From Classroom Theories to Real-Life Practice

Taylor's University Lakeside Campus

Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus

At TBS, experience is at the heart of the learning process. Our carefully-tailored approach combines a strong foundation of theories, as well as avenues to apply these theories into practical settings, to maximise learning.

In order to achieve this, we employ a variety of teaching and learning strategies, where students are exposed to real-life scenarios and industry-relevant experiences that enhance student engagement, both inside and outside the classroom.

Taylor’s University Business faculty is committed to providing students with a challenging and rewarding educational experience, where they are motivated and challenged to hone their skills further through practice. This naturally transitions to the experimentation phase, resulting in a more engaging approach to learning across-the-board.

Throughout their course of study, students are encouraged to experiment and express ideas and techniques in their pursuit of gaining deeper insights into their chosen field of study.

Blended Learning

X-Space Classroom at Taylor’s University – Promoting Learning Collaboratively, From the Lecturer, Peers and the World

Universities around the world are addressing the challenges of making teaching and learning more accessible and more flexible. The push towards greater flexibility of learning, supported by existing and emerging technologies, is substantially being driven by students who seek to engage in learning whenever and wherever they choose.

TBS leverages on the opportunities provided by technological advances to support learners. At TBS, there is a strategic and systematic approach to combining different times and modes of learning, integrating the best aspects of face-to-face and online interactions.

We refer to this as the Blended Learning approach, and it includes:

  • Face-to-face and online learning activities and formats
  • Well-established technologies such as lecture capture, social media and emerging technologies simulations
  • 24/7 access to all learning content
  • Ability to gauge students’ progress against learning outcomes, receive supporting feedback and information on students’ progress
  • Usage of collaborative digital communication platforms such as WordPress, Google Drive, Twitter and Facebook
  • X-Space Smart Classroom
  • Part of Taylor’s Collaborative Classroom of the future and the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement, X-Space is the future of classrooms at Taylor’s University. These classrooms utilise technology to facilitate collaborative learning to create an engaging and diverse learning experience.

Students are thus empowered and better prepared to face their professional careers armed with the skills of problem-solving and communication, as well as a sense of confidence in their abilities as lifelong learners. This thorough understanding enables our students to integrate seamlessly into the industry upon graduation.

Student e-Portfolio

Electronic portfolios or e-Portfolios, is utilised to support students, faculty and staff in the process of creating a dynamic and engaging tool for teaching, learning, reflection, transformation and assessment.

The e-Portfolio allows students to keep a collection of digital or electronic items, such as word documents, graphs, photos, and presentations, within a single secure online environment. This way, it serves as a digital record of the students’ achievements, abilities and classroom work throughout the course.

We incorporate the e-Portfolio into our curriculum, so students can monitor, build and reflect on their personal development. The TBS e-Portfolio is much more than just an electronic repository. It allows students to take charge of their learning and goals, their achievements at university and beyond. Our e-Portfolio serves as a powerful catalyst for integrated learning and holistic development of students, as well as a tool for personal branding and professional development.

Service Learning

Technologically advanced classrooms at Taylor's University

Technologically advanced classrooms at Taylor’s University

The technology used in these collaborative classrooms enhances creative and critical thinking skills in students, as well as promotes student engagement, and ultimately increases their understanding of the subject matter.

Students are thus empowered and better prepared to face their professional careers armed with the skills of problem-solving and communication, as well as a sense of confidence in their abilities as lifelong learners. This thorough understanding enables our students to integrate seamlessly into the industry upon graduation.

It functions as a central bank and acts as an intermediary for the government and other banks. It supervises other banks and foreign exchange, looks after the government’s interests, prints and withdraws money in circulation. It also provides advice to the Ministry of Finance and other government agencies.
