There is no entry requirement for MUET. It is a requirement for STPM and matriculation candidates to take MUET as a subject. Students will be issued a separate result slip for MUET. The MUET Exam is held every March, July, and November of each year. However, there is the new MUET On Demand Computer Based Test (CBT) dan Paper Based Test that students can opt for. Students may take the MUET on Demand outside of the stated exam dates.

Students planning to join private universities in Malaysia may also take MUET as an English requirement.
